No, this mat is not chew proof, nor is it chew resistant. The ballistic fabric used is a lower denier than our traditional bed covers (600D vs. 1200D), which means it does not have the same level of durability. It's tough enough to withstand sticks, stones, or being dragged over rough ground, but gnawing or ripping with the teeth will cause damage.

Keep destructive pups supervised at all times when they have access to the mat.

This crate mat arrives folded up in a reusable bag. The mat is a single unit with no separate cover, so just unwrap and unfold and it is ready for use.

The outer shell of the mat is made from 600D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, including the underside. There is a textured rubber coating on the bottom of the mat to prevent it from sliding. The bottom also has a PU backing to protect against moisture. The inner padding is 100% recycled polyester fiberfill batting, and there is a sheet of closed-cell foam underneath that for insulation.

This mat is covered against manufacturing defects via our 1 Year Manufacturer's Warranty. It is not a chew-resistant item, so it is not covered by the 120 Day Chew Proof Warranty. Dog-related damage to the mat or damage through misuse is not covered.

The top of the mat has a DWR coating to repel water, while the bottom has a PU backing. These help keep moisture out of the interior, but the mat is not fully waterproof. Shake off any water that spills onto the pad, and do not submerge it or allow it to sit in puddles.

If water enters the mat, allow it to fully air dry in the sun before folding up and storing. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are caustic, and can eat through the protective coatings. Immediately hose off or hand wash the mat if these fluids come into contact with it to best preserve the water-resistant coatings.

No. The mat has a layer of insulation that will help keep your dog comfortable if the ground is unusually hot or cold, but it does not have any cooling properties of its own. Make sure to lay it in a shaded area on hot days to reduce any risk of your dog overheating.

Simply wipe the mat down with a damp cloth or scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water. Wipe dry, or allow it to dry in the sun. Do not fold or store when damp.

It can be used inside a crate, but it is not as thick as a regular crate pad and may not provide enough long-term comfort or support for dogs that spend a lot of time crated. For long-term crate use, please check out our crate beds here.

This mat is also not chew resistant, so it is not a suitable crate bed for destructive dogs. Never leave a chewer unattended with this mat.

When inserted into the mat's internal pocket, the strap sits under the mat's cushioning. It will make the cushioning bulge up a little, and that section will look a little thicker than the others, but there are no hard bits that your dog will feel.

Unfortunately, this item cannot be personalized. The heat press used for heat-transfer vinyl will melt the layer of closed-cell foam inside the mat, and the embroidery machine cannot embroider through such a thick item. We're very sorry for any inconvenience this causes!

The travel mat is actually a single unit (ballistic material stitched shut around the interior), and its cover can’t be removed. Because of this, we do not manufacture or sell replacement covers for it.
